Wise words to ponder as you move into the weekend in this Q&A with Rumi
These were Rumi’s answers to questions asked by a disciple:
What is Poison? Anything which is more than our necessity is Poison. It may be Power, Wealth, Hunger, Ego, Greed, Laziness, Love, Ambition, Hate, or anything. (Basically, too much of anything is never good.)
What is Fear? Non-acceptance of uncertainty. If we accept that uncertainty, it becomes an adventure…
What is envy? Non-acceptance of good in others. If we accept that good, it becomes an inspiration…
What is Anger? Non-acceptance of things which are beyond our control. If we accept, it becomes tolerance…
What is hatred? Non-acceptance of a person as they are. If we accept a person unconditionally, it becomes love…
— Jalal ud Din Rumi (1207-1273)
Have a blessed weekend; the weather is finally giving way to Spring in my neck of the woods. It’s a beautiful thing to hear the birds singing in the morning and it still being daylight after 8:30 P.M.!
P.S. On May 8th, my second (bi-weekly) edition of The Guided Heart E-News will be sent out. In it I share anything I feel will contribute to personal growth. This may be in the form of interesting articles, people to follow, books I’m reading/recommend, apps/tools I’ve come across that make life easier, recent blog posts – anything that tickles my fancy. 😉 Get on the list HERE, I’d love to have you!
