Vera Blue | Hold

Atwood Magazine has the perfect description of this song: “Hold” is a celebration; it represents that moment when you realize you have someone in your corner that will fight for you, even when you can’t bring yourself to do so.
I think of Hold is an unsuspecting love song. I think of my own brokenness when my husband came to the forefront in my life. I know I initially tried pushing him away. I had feelings of unworthiness. In my mind, I was attempting to protect him from my messy heart.
Maybe you can relate?
Surrendering your heart to another is a scary thing. We allow them into the most private parts of our souls. To give that to another also gives the other great responsibility; to nurture, encourage, and fight – when the other feels they can’t fight for themselves.
You loved the many faults you found
You kept what was worth keeping around……I have opened my heart so many times
You have a hold of it now
I need you to breathe new life into me
You have a hold of it now
Love…it’s the only catalyst of light among the darkness.
