Learn Who You Are
I came across this quote on Instagram by A Course of Love. Perhaps you may have heard of or be familiar with A Course in Miracles? Mari Perron created both courses. I have added A Course of Love to my “to read” list and plan to share about that when I do.
In the meantime, this quote has had me pondering ever since I read it. I have spent a good portion of the last five years dwelling on the idea of getting to the end of my life and not having accomplished much of anything. I’ve thought about the end of my days and wondered what I would wish my legacy to be. And, I’ve often wondered if other people think about things like this, too, or am I just an odd duck in a great big pond?
On my quest to make a difference in the world, the one fact I lost sight of was my doorstep and the crevices of my own heart. You see, we don’t have to look too far to make a difference.
We can grow, each day, into the person we wish to be the next day. We can also give our children the experiences and lessons we wish we would’ve received as kids. Paying a bit more attention to our own doorsteps has a ripple effect on the world around us. The impact I wish to make in the world happens right where I’m planted. I can also share the experience with you and maybe after reading my words, you’re encouraged to learn who you are through experience, too.
We don’t need to acquire more knowledge on how to be human, just as no amount of outward education can teach us what our ultimate contribution in this world will be. It’s through the experiences we’re given that teach us, that God teaches us, what we need to learn. All with the hope that maybe – just maybe, we’ll come back to Him in the process.
P.S. Like this? I share other juicy life stuff in my bi-weekly e-news. The next edition goes out on Tuesday, May 22nd. I’d love for you to join my personal growth posse. 😉 xx
