As of late, I’ve needed some reminding of this sentiment and thought, maybe you do, too.
When the days get long (so, so long) and anxiety overwhelms you at times, it’s helpful to nourish your roots – right where you are, with what you have.
What I mean by that is this: the things that ground us are the same things that liven our spirit. And I think it’s safe to say, typically requires nothing extra from us; little effort, little to nothing for money – if anything, our time.
For me, those things include: reading my living faith, journaling, activities with my kids, or meditating. I’d like to add exercise but that really hasn’t made the priority list lately. That said, I’m excited about an exercise app I recently discovered. After I’ve given it a solid chance, I’ll share it on the blog.
Sometimes, though, the little pleasures in life yield the sweetest rewards and remind us that fear has no place where there is faith.
Hi again, Victoria! I wanted to come back and read something else on your blog, and I like this entry. It seems you and I are on the same page about some things. Stop by and read some of my posts sometime, and I think you’ll agree. Exercise is high on my priority list though. 🙂 But I’m getting up there in years, and agree with the old adage: use it or lose it. I figure I have to keep moving, or I’ll turn into a lump on the couch.
Thanks again for sending me the Studio Penny Lane link. That was really nice of you and put a big ol’ smile on my face.
I linked your blog on a Facebook post this morning (another one about Pennies From Heaven from a few years ago), so maybe you’ll get some visitors today. I hope so!
Oh! Almost forgot! I find it interesting that you say you’re a professional photographer turned writer, because one of my dearest blogger friends is a writer turned professional photographer! She’s also my all time favorite poet. Take a look at her blog if you have time: magicinthebackyard.wordpress.com
Thank you for sharing my site! It seems your poem resonates with more people than you may realize, Charles! 🙂 It seems to have sparked several business endeavors as well. I enjoyed reading the writings of your friend as well. Thank you for sharing.
